.KEY MESSAGES...

* Gusty southwest winds, cooler conditions, and precipitation
  chances continue through Tuesday.

* Temperatures climb to over 10 degrees above-normal late-week.

&&

.DISCUSSION...Today through Monday.

Gusty south to southwest winds will continue today, particularly
across the western Mojave Desert. Temperatures will be 5 to 10
degrees below normal through Tuesday but those cooler temperatures
won`t be around for long. Expect scattered shower and isolated
thunderstorm activity this afternoon across northern Inyo and
Esmeralda counties. An impulse will act to enhance convection this
evening in northern Inyo county keeping showers and thunderstorms
through midnight. Another round of showers and thunderstorms are
expected on Tuesday but will expand to include Nye and Lincoln
counties by late afternoon and evening. With DCAPE values of 600-
800+ J/kg, wind gusts in excess of 40 mph are possible with any
thunderstorms.

Once the current weather system moves to the east on Wednesday,
temperatures will increase rapidly during the second half of the
week, rising on average 20 degrees by Friday under a building ridge
of high pressure. Further warming and dry conditions will continue
over the weekend.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Breezy
southerly winds with gusts of 20 to 30 knots will continue through
through late this evening. Late tonight wind gusts will drop off and
winds will become lighter, but will continue to maintain a
southwesterly direction through the overnight period. VFR conditions
will prevail through the TAF period with FEW to BKN aoa 12 kft.
Southerly breezes will continue into Tuesday afternoon.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 18Z Forecast Package...With the exception of
the Owens Valley and the western Mojave Desert, gusty southerly- to-
southwesterly winds will pick up across the region around mid-
morning. 10 to 20 knot southerly-to-southwesterly winds with 20 to
30 knot gusts will continue through the afternoon and into the
evening hours when winds will start to decrease. The western Mojave
Desert, including KDAG, will see 15 to 25 knot westerly winds with
25 to 35 knot wind gusts continue through the TAF period. Breezy
southeasterly up valley winds will pick up in the Owens Valley,
including KBIH, later this morning, continuing into the afternoon
before swinging to the northwest in a typical diurnal fashion later
this evening. Showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Eastern
Sierra, White Mountains, and higher terrain of the southern Great
Basin this afternoon, with thunderstorms and light rain possible in
the northern Owens Valley this afternoon. These storms will be
capable of producing erratic gusty winds, lightning strikes, light-
to-moderate rain, and localized reductions in ceilings and/or
visibility. Otherwise, VFR conditions will prevail, with SCT-BKN
ceilings at or above 12kft, and as low as 8kft in the vicinity of
convection.
